ooooooooo... just in time, 23:59pm...

Like kids we clambered into the woods and embraced the unbelievable chill to see if the supposed haunted beauty of Paradise Woods in Eastbourne would treat us to a suitable background. Unfortunately it seduced us in under false pretenses and sadly didn't quite live up to it's name. A slope crowded with beautifully stark branches however did catch my gaze and we tested for a bit before dashing back to the cocoon of an overheated car.. (literally a womb). Tim was great, conquering the chill and his natural gaze was right up my street.

We then hooned it onto the downs to reccy a possible spot for a shot I wanted to do at sundown overlooking the town... however excitement and adventure got the better of me and I forgot that my 1 litre (ok just under 1 litre) couldn't tackle the dirtroads and craters of the track...

This was on a shoot for The Guardian Weekend... a tale of the dark past of Rupert Thompson and his eventful life in Eastbourne. Rupert and Ian , as expected, were lovely, patient and a great team and I really enjoyed working with them.

We finished the shoot in a cafe at the end of the pier as the sun began to die. Helen made us a lovely cup of tea to heat our chilled bones.

A lovely day seeing as much of Eastbourne as humanely possible in a day that flew by followed by a drive home with great company.. my thanks to everyone for their hard work, brave survival skills and to my car for actually missioning up that slope....
